Active substance: Human Menopausal Gonadotropin

Human menopausal gonadotropin containing FSH and LH in a 1:1 ratio. HMG has follicle-stimulating and luteinizing activity and is synthesized from human postmenopausal urine. In women, it stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles, increases estrogen levels, stimulates endometrial proliferation and ovulation. In men, it stimulates the development of seminiferous tubules and spermatogenesis. In the testes, FSH induces Sertoli cell maturation, which primarily affects convoluted tubule cell division and sperm development. This requires a high intratesticular concentration of androgens, which is achieved by previous therapy with human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG).
